Enterprising Macclesfield hosted it’s annual event on 7th December, focused on Investing In Macclesfield.

The event, which was held at Macclesfield Rugby club, brought together Enterprising Macclesfield clients, local advisory partners (LAPs) and coaches, together with representatives from local businesses. MP for Macclesfield, David Rutley, was also in attendance in his role as Honorary Patron of Enterprising Macclesfield. The evening coincided with Enterprising Macclesfield’s second anniversary since launch in 2015.

Announcements on key achievements and successes were shared, as well as information on exciting plans for the future. Enterprising Macclesfield Chair, Tim Shercliff opened proceedings by detailing the most recent support figures of 133 businesses supported over 2 years, with a total of 297 volunteer days contributed. Tim also confirmed that in the past 6 months Enterprising Macclesfield became a CIC (Community Interest Company).

Enterprising Macclesfield also recently led the formation of the Macclesfield for Business Steering group, which is made up of local business leaders and represents over 10,000+ local employees. The Steering Group has collaborated to provide a constructive response to the recent town strategy consultation, and has been exploring options to influence public and private investment in Macclesfield town centre.

MP David Rutley offered his continued support and endorsement for Enterprising Macclesfield’s activities: “The thing that sets Enterprising Macclesfield apart is the core mission of trying to help people get their business off the ground or get it moving in a new direction”. David thanked Enterprising Macclesfield for the support provided to the local community and also praised Macclesfield’s “entrepreneurial spirit”.

Q&A sessions were then held with two of Enterprising Macclesfield’s clients: Doug Reay, of Crossfit Silk/Inner Strength and Barbara Milner, founder of New Creation Interiors. Both discussed the positive impacts coaching has had on their businesses.

The evening was closed with details of sponsorship opportunities available at an organisational or individual level, and the announcement of Enterprising Macclesfield’s newest Patron, McCann Complete Medical. Charlie Buckwell, CEO, said: “Anything that helps Macclesfield be seen as a great place to be, a great place to live & a great place to work is a fantastic venture”. McCann Complete Medical join Macclesfield Town Council and Make it Macclesfield as Patrons.

The Enterprising Macclesfield team is looking forward to another year of continued success in supporting local business, and encouraging investment in the Macclesfield area.
