Enterprising Macclesfield receives 100 applications for support

Thursday 30th March saw Enterprising Macclesfield hit its target of receiving 100 applications for support. This target was set at the launch event in November 2015. This is a phenomenal achievement for a new enterprise initiative operated by a team of dedicated volunteers.

“It’s a fantastic achievement for us following a lot of hard work and commitment from our team.” said Tim Shercliff, Chairman of Enterprising Macclesfield. “We have successfully proven that there is demand for enterprise support in the local area. But more importantly, we have proven our model works, as we can start to see the impact for the businesses we have supported in the last year.”

Since the launch of Enterprising Macclesfield, a panel of 14 volunteer coaches, with wide business experience and 15 local advisory partners, with specific areas of business expertise, has been established. The voluntary team has supported local businesses in a wide range of industries such as leisure, education, retail, property and finance. 60% of these have been existing businesses, while 40% have been start-ups.

Over the last year, more than 200 days of volunteer time has been dedicated by coaches and local advisory partners which is equivalent to one full-time employee. The support has included a total of 79 diagnostic meetings, 47 coaching sessions and 36 local advisory partner referrals.

After welcoming the initiative at the Enterprising Macclesfield launch event, Local MP David Rutley has seen it grow from strength to strength, “I know that Enterprising Macclesfield work hard to support many local businesses in Macclesfield, and I was very pleased to hear about how the team has achieved its target. I wish them continued success in the months and years ahead in taking forward their invaluable work supporting our local economy.”

To build on its initial success, Enterprising Macclesfield now plans to expand the range of services by hosting monthly meetings for past and present clients. They also aim to grow the local advisory network, providing businesses with more opportunity to access tailored support.

Reaching 100 applications for support is a pivotal milestone for the initiative. Enterprising Macclesfield thanks everyone who has helped them achieve this and hopes to continue to encourage and support enterprise in the local area.
