Enterprising Macclesfield encourages local businesses to grow

As the Chancellor prepares his budget announcement for 16 March, the likelihood is that there will be no major announcements that will be regarded as good news for business. With the abolition of the Regional Development Agencies, the local Business Link network and more recently the Growth Accelerator programme there are no central government local backed programmes available to support businesses. “This is one of the key reasons why we setup Enterprising Macclesfield last year,” said Tim Shercliff, Chairman of Enterprising Macclesfield. “Through our local coaches and business advisory partners we have established a valuable network that is keen to support local businesses to help them to grow and create a vibrant hub for enterprise in the SK10 and SK11 postcode areas”.

Since it’s launch in November 2015, Enterprising Macclesfield has received 28 applications and is actively engaged in supporting these clients by providing a combination of free coaching support, advice and access to funding sources. Enterprising Macclesfield is being run as a voluntary initiative driven by a group of local senior business professionals who are passionate about the importance of enterprise to the local economy.

“We want local businesses to be successful, as this is in the best interests of our area,” said Tim, “so I would encourage any local business to tap into this free service to help them to move their business forward”.

Established by the Make It Macclesfield team, Enterprising Macclesfield is also actively engaging with large enterprises in the area, with a view to establishing a local Enterprise Fund that can be used to provide essential funding for local businesses. “Many large organisations are committed to Corporate Social Responsibility and what better way to demonstrate your commitment to your local area than by investing directly in businesses that can create employment and help the local area to prosper,” said Tim. Businesses that are interested in contributing to the fund, or accessing business support can contact the Enterprising Macclesfield team via the website www.enterprisingmacclesfield.co.uk.
